Oroquieta City Council Approves Searanching Project

The Oroquieta CIty Council approved in its September 15, 2011 meeting the proposed five-hectare expansion of the Mobod Fish and Shellfish Sanctuary Marine Sanctuary to accommodate the piloting of the sea cucumber searanching training component of the Ridge to Reef Project. The City Council approved unanimously the request of the Honorable City Mayor Jason P. Almonte based on the report of the WorldFish Center that the sanctuary is an ideal testing site for the project.

WorldFish Center, through its sea cucumber expert, Dr. Wilfredo Uy, presented to the city council the findings of the field investigation in the sanctuary and development plan for the pilot area for searanching.
